A Barbaric Yawp

Updates abound!!!

So I'm finishing up "Fools call it Fate: a story of sex, coincidence, and an electronic cigarette". It's a play I'm writing for a sort of playwright competition for Mobtown Players. If it's chosen, i'll get to workshop and change it based on how the actors portray the characters....or something theatrey. It's really been a cool experience because I've never really written a play before. As it is, I still need to put it in actual play format, but it's so wacky. Lots of weird margins and spacing and beats and siiiiiiiiiigh. Still, it's been really interesting, and I'm a big fan of the plot being a bit confusing. It's very up for interpretation, and I dig that.

As far as novel writing, I'm working on "Telinhe". Yep. Again. I really need to be working on "Yven" but every time I open up the binder and look at the disarray, I just want to close it again. I'll get there. I still have time. .....Yeh, I'll get there. But back to "Telinhe". I figured out how I want the Tales of Dominhydor series to end, and there's some pretty huge reveals as far as what the world is all about. Well, I got really eager to put some of the dialogue down, and now having written that and knowing the truth behind everything, I'm finding it a little difficult to pretend not to know. Yeh, so I kinda screwed myself there. It's just a good thing that there's too much left to write. Well, actually, there's is, but I'm just going to tell myself there isn't, just for now.

I also started planning out the plot for "Sweaty Stages". Unfortunately, that name is going to change. I do love it, but I decided to change so much of the story that it probably won't make sense anymore.

Other than that, I'm just revising short stories here and there. My short story "Begging for Relief" is going to be reprinted in the September issue of Twisted Tongue magazine, and I'm hoping that "Tyler Returned" gets into a speculative fiction cat anthology I submitted it to, but I haven't heard anything yet.

I should be writing right now, but after a long night at Griff's for a friend's birthday, all I want to do is drink skim milk, eat brie, and watch Mad Men with my husband.

And it's pretty rad.
